Bull Weathervane


Full bodied, copper with zinc head and horns. Traces of several square golf leaf surfaces. Attributed to Cushing & White, c. 1870. Ex. Jim Meltzer Collection, purchased in Vermont late in the 1980s. Wonderful wear pattern, with no restorations or repairs.

Copper Grasshopper Weathervane atop an Arrow


Varied green verdigris surface. Homemade atop an earlier arrow by a resident of Sharon, CT; provenance available. Never gilded or repaired. c. 1890. Visual copy of Faneuil Hall, Boston, grasshopper vane. That grasshopper was copied from Royal Exchange in London in 1742 by Shem Drowne. It became a symbol of liberty for American colonists.

Small size cast iron weathervane or draft horse with flat tail. Attributed to Rochester Ironworks, New Hampshire, c. 1880. Old, rusted surface with traces of green silver and yellow paint. Repair to tail attachment. Provenance: David Wheatcroft.
